Thich Nhat Hanh
Inspired by Victoria Loorz’s book Church of the Wild, Sacred Ground Community Church & Sangha is now offering one Sunday morning “Church of the Wild” service each month in a central Ohio park or public space. While including sacred readings from Thich Nhat Hanh and the Judeo-Christian tradition, the core of our Church of the Wild services will entail individuals selecting their own spots to be in silent, personal communion with our natural world for a period of time, followed by regrouping for a mindful Dharma discussion to describe, share, and lift up our individual experiences.
Since our beginnings in 2009, we have offered a confluence of Buddhist, Christian, and Earth-centered spiritual practices; in seminary from 2014 - 2017, Michael specialized his graduate studies on Eco-Theology. In 2023, we are energized to see what unfolds and blossoms as we deepen our connections with the Earth Mother through our Church of the Wild services. As Sacred Ground moves towards deepening our relationships with the Greater Earthen Family, we acknowledge our roles as bodhisattvas-in-training and children of G-d, while simultaneously re-membering and celebrating our identities as Earth stewards, as children of Mother Earth, and as bits and pieces of the living, breathing, caring Earth itself.
We invite you to join us!
